Types of Cosmetic Orthopedic
- Limb lengthening: It is a process which achieves results using, the body’s own capacity to create new bone, ligaments, soft tissues, nerves that surrounds. The process is a surgical procedure called osteotomy, in which the surgeon cuts the bone to lengthen it. The limb is then stabilized using different internal or external fixation devices or frames.
- Intramedullary Skeletal Kinetic Distractor (ISKD Nails): It is one of the most suitable procedure for nail lengthening. It can be used in the tibia or the femur, as it has limited capacity to correction of other deformities. Once the bone has been reamed to allow the passage of nail, the nail will be inserted femur the tibia or and will cut the bone surgically to allow lengthening. The bone will lengthen by the nail and the rate of lengthening will be monitored regularly by the surgeon.
- Internal Lengthening Device: It is an expandable rod that will be placed inside the bone.
